Discover Parrot Jungle Island
Walking through some of the winding pathways through Miami Parrot Jungle Island, visitors are engulfed in a cocophany of human-like voices; and explosion of colour; and treated to some of the most diverse and interesting birdlife in the world. Parrot Jungle Island offers a little for all; and the entire family enjoys the trip of a lifetime. Romance also courses through the dialogue of the birds, and lovers find solace in the midst of this beautiful paradise; the ideal spot for a day-trip for young or old couples. For visiting groups, Parrot Jungle Island is the ideal spot to converse in easy tones as they admire the birds and listen to the bird-jabber that floats on the air. From its humble beginnings, Parrot Jungle Island has nurtured an appreciation for nature. Its founder, Austrian-born Franz Scherr, decided that it would be a good idea to create a park where birds come and go freely. Friends and family warned against this trusting, ambitious project, saying that the birds would escape the park and never return. Franz chose to push ahead with the project, carving a trail through the serene, natural, jungle environment, to create this amazing park. The attractions that now pull visitors to Parrot Jungle Island include over 1000 species of birds, more than 2000 species of plants, and various forms of reptiles. Bird-trainers steal the limelight with magnificent displays of intelligence by the birds of this intriguing park. To add an interesting avenue, explore the Miami Japan Garden, created in the 1950s by Japanese businessman, Ikiyoshi Ichimura, who decided to bring a slice of Japan to the city that he enjoyed visiting so much. Ichimura brought artifacts from Tokyo, and commissioned a Japanese architecht to design the gardens. Today, visitors are treated to scenic, traditional Japanese gardens, replete with traditional-style Japanese buildings. In addition to the Miami Japanese Garden, the Treetop Ballroom offers an excellent location for weddings, wedding receptions and corporate events. Interesting characters you will encounter at Parrot Jungle include Jake and Hanna, two of the resident Orangutans. Ray is a hyacinth Macaw that likes to interact with guests of the park as they enter through the front gates. Hercules is one of the park's more interesting creatures, and is a 'Liger'; a cross between a lion and a tiger. Meet one of the least-evolved animals over many hundreds of years, being a crocodile, Crocosaurus is on of the many types of reptiles found in the park. Visit Parrot Jungle Island to discover these magnificent creatures. A few surprises await visitors to the island. Immerse yourself in a park whose vision, stemming from its founder, gives you a slice of tropical paradise amidst the palms and the bird-chatter in the vibrant city of Miami.
