Marvel at Freedom Tower - Miami

This historical vessel had a beacon in the Cupola Tower, providing light over the Miami Bay, and was also the home of the Miami News and Metropolis publications for many years. After Fidel Castro assumed power in Cuba, Miami was flooded by Cuban immigrants looking to make a fresh start and the Tower was used by the US government as an immigration office for these migrants. After many years of lying in ruins and wasting away, the Cuban community decided to purchase the building and turn it into an important emblem for themselves and their history. Today, Freedom Tower is used as a monument chronicling the struggles of Cuban people in America; the first floor comprises a museum depicting Cuban boatlifts, life in pre- and post-Castro Cuba and the strides the Cuban contingent has made in America. The library holds a staggering collection portraying Cuban history as well as an extensive look at people fleeing Cuba in search of a better life. This stunning architectural marvel has come to mean so much to the city of Miami and is definitely a place to visit during your trip.
