Visit The Gold Coast Railroad Museum
Miami is the place where holidays go from memorable to extraordinary. With its many sun-drenched beaches and intellectual hotspots, the city that never sleeps has a bit of something for everyone. Within this hive of energy is the historic gem known as the Gold Coast Railroad Museum. A non-profit organisation, Gold Coast Railroad was formed in 1957 by culturally-conscious Miamian’s eager to save parts of Florida’s history that were disappearing or being neglected, and is now dedicated to the preservation, exhibition and operation of antique railroad equipment. A wide variety of impressive exhibitions awaits the discerning visitor, all with their own unique history. The Ferdinand Magellan exhibition is unique as it is the only car ever to be custom-built for the President of the United States in the 20the century. The historic vehicle is the only car to land the prestigious accolade of ‘National Historic Landmark’ by the US government in February 1985. The Naval Air Richmond Station showpiece was one of the military operations created during World War 2, designed to help the US cope with the increase in fighting demands. Besides exhibitions, Gold Coast Railroad Museum has several diesel and steam locomotives on display; other equipment to check out includes passenger cars, freight cars and various model trains. The children will particularly enjoy the educational rides on offer at the museum. Among these are the Edwin Link Children’s Railroad, Standard-Gauge Diesel Electric Locomotive and Standard Gauge Coach Car, all providing much enjoyment and a look at the history that belies these exceptional exhibitions. Gold Coast Railroad Museum is the perfect place for your next meeting, convention or even birthday party. Our well-trained staff and superb atmosphere will make a visit to our special world one you won’t forget.
